Grayson turns 1!

We were so excited to celebrate Grayson's first birthday. It really is true what people say, babies grow up so fast. Reflecting back on one year of life of this spirited, sweet little boy is a whirlwind. Grayson took his first steps around 10.5 months. It only took a few weeks before he was off and running. By one year, he was such a curious, active, and playful little boy.

As July 15th neared, we gathered all of Grayson's family and friends together and held a big old bash. It was the quintessential first birthday party and we are so grateful for everyone who helped us celebrate. 

A few notables about Grayson at one-year-old:

BUSY - this boy never seems to stop. If there is a drawer, cupboard, or box, he will open it and tear apart its contents. If there is an open door, he will run through it. If there is something he should not touch, he will touch it. Sitting in a shopping cart is basically impossible - he tries to stand up, climb out, or asks to be held the entire time. We spend much of our day chasing him around and making sure he doesn't get into trouble. It's quite the thrill.

TOYS - he has shown a lot more interest in toys. Perhaps his favorite toys are our cell phones and the TV remote. He also loves his doggy and any cup or spatula. 

MUSIC - Grayson can dance! He is actually quite adept at finding the beat and doing the cutest little bob/waddle to the music. Whether we're in the grocery store, the car, or at home, as soon as a catchy song starts playing, Grayson's head will start bobbing. Adorable. 

WORDS - Grayson is quite verbal. Not only is he great a mimicking sounds he hears from us or around him, but he's picked up quite a few words. At one year, he can say: nana (banana/all food), no, daddy, mama, dog, truck, and uh oh. 

FRUIT - Grayson is a fruit-fiend. He loves his morning banana and his favorite snacks are grapes. He also likes yogurt. Vegetables are a different story. Actually, in general, he's a slow and pokey eater. He takes forever to get his lunch or dinner down and likes to play around with the food more than eat it. It can be a bit of a test of patience for me. 

CUTE - Grayson has the cutest little curls on the back of his head and I just can't bring myself to cut them off. Apparently, my own hair grew in in a very similar way. Admittedly, he has a baby mullet, but if you're ever allowed to have a mullet it your life, it's when your one-year-old. 

SWEET - For all his busyness, Grayson is a sweet little boy. He's tender and cuddly and likes to give hugs and wet slobbery kisses. He waves goodbye and flirts with all the ladies when we're out and about. 

We just love our little man so much. The first year of his life was such a blessing and we can't wait for a lifetime more of birthday celebrations. Thanks again to all our friends for spoiling Grayson as much as we like to ;).
