Taking Control

So, I'm kind of dense. Which explains why I've just now come to the conclusion that I'm not really in control of my life. I think that has been a big part of my frustration the past couple of weeks, but it's okay and the clouds have started to clear (I'll get to that in another post). So, since there are so many things out of my control, I decided to take control of the few things I can change.

First and foremost...

It's gone! Nearly 7 inches gone.

Do I like it? It's a big change and I've had a few "what did I just do?" moments. But general consensus is that I like it. Just the change I needed.

Secondly, Stuart and I demolished our kitchen and living room to undertake some projects that have been in the plans for the past 2 years. Hence the disaster in the photos above. I'm excited to lay our new floor, paint our living room, and make our home the place I've been envisioning for the past 2 years.

I'm really excited. But before it get's better it always gets worse. This is the current state of our living room (I can tell you're jealous).

Sub floor where the new floor will go.

The new wall we built last week. It hides our washer/dryer.

It's nice to feel somewhat in control again--at least of a few things. And don't worry, I'm learning (slowly) that not being in control of everything is okay and a necessary part to being truly happy in an imperfect world. It's a hard lesson for me to learn - but certainly one I needed.

  7. SO CUTE! Like Camille, I can't remember last time I saw it that short, but it looks great. Change is fun...and good. My roommate was looking at the picture with me and said, "wow, she's really pretty. Who is she?" And I responded, "yeah she is really pretty, and oh, she's my best friend from home." Love you Brittney!!
