If I could change anything about my brain, I'd change my anal-retentiveness because I blame this factor on 98% of the stress I experience in my life. I have a really good memory, kind of uncannily good. Evidence of this is that I've never kept a day planner in my life and I don't forget anything. I just remember - it's hard to explain. While this talent may come in handy when you have to go to a doctor's or dentist's appointment, or need to remember a relative's birthday, or you need to recall a recipe from memory while you're at the grocery store, it also has it's downsides. Really, it's a double-edged sword because I also remember every little detail and thing that's eating at me. And I'll remember it until it's resolved.
For example, here are a just a few things on my to-do list that have been driving me nuts:
- Return the shower curtain I prematurely bought at Target 2 months ago
- Hang curtain rods
- Iron the curtains
- Vacuum and detail my car
- Buy new floor mats for my car
- Write a book
- Mop the kitchen floor
- Clean the bathroom
- Organize the storage room
- Repaint the shelves in my living room
- Find out and plan how to pour your own cement driveway
- Get my hair done
- Shave my legs
- buy new luggage
- write a new web bio for Stuart's Web site
- post to your blog before it gets even more lame than it already is
- and the list goes on and on and on
Sometimes I just wish I could turn off my brain. I wish I could just RELAX and not feel like every minute I'm sitting down I'm wasting time not doing other things I should be doing. It's exhausting...and stressful. This has been one of those weeks where I feel ultra stressed.
P.S. Tomorrow I'm headed to Milwaukee, WI to meet with a client of ours. Milwaukee is one of those places that I thought I would never go to. I'm curious to see what it is like...I'll try to take pictures and let you know about my adventures in middle America.
B, don't worry my dear. Your photographic memory is something that makes you who you are, and I totally love you for who you are. Never fear!!! Who knows, maybe you got a double dose of memory to make up for mine. It takes a real special person to live with a crazy forgetful artist.
ReplyDeleteThat comment was from STU not B. Curse you bloooooogggggeeeeerrrr!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, just be grateful you have a memory....

ReplyDeleteYou should hire a personal assistant to iron your curtains and write your book. The legs you have to shave yourself I'm afraid.
