At two months old Grayson is:
- BIG. He arrived here big and hasn't slowed down one bit. We have his two-month checkup this week so I'll know the official stats soon, but we do know that he is over 15 pounds and around 24 inches long!?!? I don't even expect him to be on the charts. He's huge, healthy, and completely adorable. He's as chubby as they come and has the most luscious cheeks. I wouldn't change one thing about him.
- SWEET. He really is such a good baby. He has the sweetest disposition and rarely cries unless he's hungry, poopy, or feeling ignored. 95% of the time he just chills out with wide and alert eyes. He loves to look around and explore his surroundings. We feel lucky to have such a chill little boy.
- SMILEY. He started to really smile around six weeks old and hasn't stopped. He has the cutest little smile and loves to play with mom or dad. He thinks Stu is pretty great and almost always cracks a big smile when he comes into the room. Some of our favorite times with him is in the morning when he's well rested and fed and ready to coo and play with us. So special.
- A GOOD EATER. Which naturally lends to his chubby cheeks. Nursing has been so easy with this little baby - he hasn't given me any problems and keeps a regular schedule of eating every 3 to 4 hours. He'll also take a bottle without any qualms and even loves his binkie. He never puts up a fuss - and we don't complain about that!
Some other notable things about Grayson:
- On average, he's sleeping between four and six hours at a time during the night. I wouldn't mind lengthening that to seven or eight but I feel like we're getting closer to that goal each week! It's amazing how much I've gotten used to this new sleep schedule. The lack of sleep was the one thing I was really nervous about before having a baby because I'm such a sleeper, but somehow it all works out.
- He loves to move. He's a happy camper anytime we're in the car, stroller, or carrier and usually falls asleep as soon as we get moving.
- He thinks getting his bum changed or putting on his clothes is just about the funniest thing in the world. Even if he's crying he starts laughing and smiling as soon as we put him on his changing table. Not sure why it happens, but it's pretty funny.
- He loves bath time. The water calms him down instantly and he just loves being bathed and pampered. Well, who doesn't? He's obviously a smart kid. I can't wait to take him swimming.

- His loves to be swaddled and sung to. One of the best ways to soothe Grayson or get him ready for bed is to swaddle him and then hold him upright against our chests while we sing into his ear. It calms him right down and we love to sing to him.
- He's well travelled. He's already been to Washington, Oregon, California, and Idaho. He did so well on his first plane ride and road trip. He spent a week on the house boat with my family and was a very good travel companion. He's also been to three rock concerts to cheer on his Daddy!
- He's already had his first owies and cold. I got a head cold while on our vacation and since we're attached at the hip, Grayson caught my cold. I was so worried because he was just 5 weeks old and had such a stuffy nose. So, I spent most of the night rocking him in our hotel bathroom and steaming the shower so he could breath more easily. Luckily, he survived :). We also had our first owie. He bumped his head while I was carrying him in the baby carrier. It was so traumatic. He cried for probably 10 minutes and I cried for 3 hours - no exaggeration. It was awful. I felt like the worst mother but was thankful for all the other mothers who consoled me and told me it's bound to happen. Needless to say, I'm glad we got both of those hurdles out of the way and not looking to repeat them any time soon.
We are just so happy to have our little man. He really is the joy of our lives. Today during our family walk, Stuart said, "I'm a big fan of Grayson. I'd totally join his fan club." That pretty much sums it up.
Oh gosh. I pray for a baby like Grayson every day :) So glad things are going well. I miss you!
ReplyDeleteLove the little notes all about Grayson. I'm glad you are writing things like this down. After you have all your children you have a hard time remembering little details! Love the pics too. I miss him, but looking forward to seeing you all again pretty soon.
