I had a lot of help from my mom - the master seamstress. She made the crib bedding and helped trim the curtains, which are from Ikea. The glider was a splurge and it was worth it. It's so comfy and reclines to nearly horizontal for long nights up with the baby (but of course, I'm planning on our baby being perfect and sleeping through the night right away :) - this is just "in case" :) ). The white dresser was a hand-me-down from my sister's old room, but luckily, matches perfectly. And we found the low-profile crib for a great deal on Amazon.
We also added an homage to Daddy with a cool Fictionist print a fan drew of the band. The colors went perfectly in the room - and hey, why the heck not? I also love the diaper changing station. That desk is a built-in in our room and lends itself perfectly for the dirty deeds.
One more close up of the awesome crib bedding and baby's new friends - all gifts from his grandmas.
We used the remainder of my sister's hand-me-down kid furniture as make-shift closet organizers. It actually works quite well, and as you can see, this kid is spoiled and organized (okay, maybe his mother is just OCD). He is already well-dressed and well stocked from birth till college :) - thanks to the kindness and generosity of so many friends and family. We've had several baby showers and though I did my best to turn them down, people are just so lovely. Thank you everyone who helped us furnish baby's room and wardrobe.
So...now all we need is the little man. He has 16 days until he's "due." I've made a small amount of progress at about 1.5 cm dilated and 70% effaced. We'll see what happens. However, he can't come until after next week because I still have to work and there are a few important meetings I need to attend. After the 13th, he's free to make his grand entrance into this world.
I look forward to spending a lot of time in this nursery with my little baby. I am just so excited to welcome him home. We've waited and prepared for this day for so long, it's just so surreal it's around the corner. Wish me luck!!!
So cute! Good job! I love that crib--I was eyeing that very one before we were gifted a crib (that I also love). Having a comfy recliner is the bessssst! So worth it! Good luck in the home stretch!
